Health Note: Grand mal Seizure 6/22/13 (5.5 yrs) w/ concurrent neck injury. Not clear if neck injury is from bitework or seizure. XRays clean. Grand mal seizure 8/27/13. Chinese Remedy started. No observed Seizures for more than 1 year. Weaned off remedy by veterinary advice. Grand Mal seizure 1/14/2015. Remedy resumed.Jai has continued to have seizures with some increase in frequency. However since his frequency is less than 1 per month (just a few per year) my veterinarians (mulitple) recommend not medicating. Management is primarily to keep Jai's life routine, and to keep stress and excitement minimal. Under stress or new conditions, his behavior can be unpredictable, and so he is then muzzled. Jai is a deep heart of all things for me, and this creates great conflict for me. From a practical standpoint, he is a liabilty. But my heart loves him. He is my travel companion, guardian in the ram pen, and silliest boy. What can I say, I love my boy.

Jairam comes from some very lofty intentions and from the deepest heart of all things. I nearly named him Couer de la Vie. He is the very memory of my dearest Jayanta. Jai is sired by Orsam de Salte Cabre, a dog of unflappable character, strong working drive and enormous heart. Orsam is the first Groenendael in 25 years to make it to the finals of French Ring.

Jairam's dam is most affectionately known as "Disco," aka Baikadunia. She was a very social bitch, but with extremely high prey drive. Her agility is beyond compare - I once observed her scale a 10ft fence to find her owner at a trial, and observed many a fence cleared in an effort to harrass the sheep. Disco's brother Brita impressed Ivan Balabanov with his bite and temperament for work. He commented that Brita was really a Malinois in a black jacket. Baikadunia comes from Megaspirit's All For One (Atos) out of Unja d'Aljepalo (Unia). Unia won the 1999 Agility-Welt Cup, 1999 FCI Agility World Cup (vice-champions), and the 2000 Belgian National Championship. Disco's sister competes in agility on the Swiss World Team.

Jai work's with intense focus and seriousness, but is also very hectic. He can be obsessively driven on trail, and was a bomb proof puppy. To satisfy his insatiable need to run, I began to skijor with him in 2008, and this remarkable endeavor has brought him focus and curbed his desire to chase... seeming perfectly content to just run. Jai has deployed for two searches, with one find.

At nearly 5 years of age, Jai is trained in new disciplines, including PPD and Narcotics.

He was retired from all training in 2014 after it was clear his epilepsy impacted his learning ability, or his reliability in work. He continues to be a ranch dog, but only in fenced areas.

Competed in one Disc Dog trial in 2014.

Jai is highly social, though sometimes unpredictable socially, seeming to love some people with great exuberance, and to respond with sharp bark at others.
